I have heard of gas mileage increase and better fuel burn by adding acetone to fuel. I also heard that it helps octane ratings. Anyone using it or have any feedback?

never heard of that, but have heard of toulene..

I dumped a gallon of Toulene in my fuel, because it was getting old. I don't know if it helped or not. I sold the boat before I ran it after that.

The acetone thing is a myth. Lots of threads around on that. Dont know about the toluene thing but I dont like cancer.

acetone is CH3COCH3 while toulene (methylbenzene) is C7H8 (C6H5CH3) the oxygen in acetone gives it an acidic quality which could be a negative,but Im not going to think about it too much right now...

i tryed it in my last duramax truck for 6 months,and over that time and many miles delivering cars on a 2 car trailer i never saw any diff in milage up or down

ace hdw. home depot etc..its a common chemical..if your going to try it do your research first, engines arent cheap. there really isn't a readily available miracle to put in your tank, people have tried everything from toulene to model airplane fuel to moth balls (napthalene) at one time or another.

incidently, the most power is obtained by using the LOWEST octane necessary. octane basically prevents detontation/preignition and somewhat slows the flame front. (simplified)
