Question Anybody got experience with East Chicago's In and Out service?

Getting close to closing the deal on the 28 Pantera I'm looking at... So i called EC about the IAO service, apparently they have room for the boat and it would run me $1400.

Sound like a good deal to you guys? It seems decent to me, although I have never had that type of service before.

Any concerns with the area? All the strokes at work are telling me that I don't wanna keep the boat there because I'm gonna get robbed, shot and tossed in a dumpster. I figured that because I know a lot of you guys keep your boats there, it's not bad enough to dissuade me from keeping the boat there.

Do I need to get a silenced shotgun like Javier Bardem in No Country For Old Men?

Any other words of wisdom?

We all launched there all last summer without incident.

You will be fine.

Worst problem is the rail dust from the steel mills next doors.

Thanks for the input... How is it as far as proximity to good places to tie up, or nice beaches?

The marina is a great place to keep your boat other then the steel mill dust like OB said. The people are friendly and security at the maine is pretty good. I have quite a few friends that keep ther boats there and they have never had a problem.
If you keep it there i would get a full cover to keep the dust off. Right next to the marina is a nice beach and about a 15 minute ride to Boaters beach and a 1/2 hour or so to Chicago.

Wow, sounds like a winner. Thanks for the help. I wonder what a full cover would run.

Baddog-
First thing first- good choice of boat! I looked for quite a while at Pantera...awesome looking ride! For a full cover, call Angola Canvas...don't know the number offhand...if I can find it tomorrow at work I'll PM you...otherwise look it up online or in the phone book. They did a great job on mine...it falls to the waterline...and they were pretty quick. Don't know how dirty the boat would get if it was in the building...but a full cover is always a great idea.

That's good to know, I'm gonna have to find out where that barge is cuz you know a noob like me would trash my boat immediately and all the fun would be over.

Thanks Mike, the more I got into boats the more I realized the Pantera was right for me, I don't give a $hit about creature comforts, I just want a wave crusher that's gonna hold together and hold it's value. I don't mind that the non stepped hull's gonna cost me some mph vs a newer stepped design... I'm sure the 2x efi 502's will be more than enough to excite me for my first season with my own go fast. I'll look into those covers, thanks for the heads up. Just gotta get my check first.

Congrats on the boat. Look forward to running with you this summer. Don't forget to swing by boaters beach in Portage, first and last place on the lake with warm water.

Right back atcha man. I can't wait to get on the water after all this buildup.

The closer I get to actually hooking this thing up to my friend's truck and hauling it out of MI the harder it is for me to sleep, cuz I know it's gonna be the time of my life.

Summer can't come fast enough!!!
