XS Steering - Parts?
#1
Hi All,
I have an XS system that came on my boat. Apparently the previous owner that installed it was quite the animal and hacked some of the fittings and corrosion has taken a toll.
I need to replace the hydraulic pipe that passes from the engine compartment through the external plate. The 3/8" ss hose, which also need replacing attached there.
Lastly there 4 screw on 5/16" hose connection on the rubber hose in the engine area. I assume that if the hose is fine and connections going, I can just replace?
Any help would be great, I'm out of the water until I fix this. Have placed a call to Brian at XS but have not heard back. I'm hoping a can go to another manufacturer.
Thanx!

I ended up taking the parts to Pirtek hydraulics locally ad they were very helpful. I had the parts remade and they cleaned up the bulkhead tubing - saved me alot of money there.
IMHO Brian is a good guy but difficult to get a hold of for questions or support - still no call back. coming from a service industry myself - even though the system is very good, I could not reccomend based on this. It is very frustrating having to figure it out on your own.

That is why I went with a Zeiger kit. I talked with Brian about making a kit, but he was very hard to get a hold of, didn't return phone calls, and needed payment up front before he would manufacture. I had a problem with sending money to someone who would rarely return a phone call, and we weren't talking about $20! He seemed like a genuinely good guy, and I'm not trying to bash him. I'm just letting people know my experience.

well ended up getting the part from WPM. Not an exact fit so I hade to do alot of drilling through stainless and what not. NEVER buy an XS Personfance Steering. Though it might be quality and work well, you better hope it never breaks or needes service. There is absolutely no one standing behind the operation. 3-4 calls with " dude, just leave message where you got the part and I'll take it from there'" - nothing nada and that is how much business you should give Brian.
