Hey guys Im wanting to know how I can tell if I have gell coat or awl grip or interlux or what. I have a deck and dash area that are not factory production , someone has built a custom deck and dash out of plywood glasscloth glass resin then ? It looks thinner than regular gellcoat . Its smooth and shiny white around the dash but not the deck. I want to shine up the deck, and I wonder about buffing and light sanding on the surface its a little chalky now. Also I need to make some blending type repairs on some old screw holes and cracks and chips around the cabin door area and will want to blend rather than redo the whole dash and cabin wall Thanks

Gel coat is much softer than Awlgrip. It also scratches much more easily. Awlgrip tends to be shinier too. Awlgrip is often whiter as well. See if you can find a place underneath something you can "test" on.
