Default Six months of hard work - Worth it!!

Those who cruise the Formula Owners forum will be aware of this, but I just wanted to share the results of 6 months of after-hours and weekend effort in working over my 382. I'm not sure that I would do it again, but it was good to get out from behind my desk and be a mechanic and fabricator again, and I think that it came out pretty well. Attached are some teaser shots.

2000 382 Formula Project

Hey Nort - Let's go boating!

Wow Chuck! It all looks awesome. I can't wait to see it in person. So, what's your first club event? Frostbite Cruise?

Ron - It's in there, tucked away on a polished stainless steel shelf, just below the starboard drive & tab pumps. I still have to finish hooking up the cylinders on the mufflers, though - my original ones siezed up, so I found some stainless/nylon ones from Parker-Hannifin to try.

Swamplizard - The engine spec's weren't changed. They're Volvo Penta (innovation Marine) DPX HP 600's. 540 ci, 600 hp, GM BowTie block & heads, Crower cranks/rods, JE pistons, Crane hydraulic roller valve gear, Manley stainless/inconel valves, Isky springs, Holley injection and close-cooled. They are not particularly glamorous-looking, so it was hard to really bling them up. They are, however all business, as they are based on an engine package that Innovation supplies to the Navy for "certain craft".

I have to travel next week, so we hope to take her out for the first runs on May 10. We'll be at the CBPBA Shakedon Cruise May 17th, but will be going by car...

Thanks for the compliments. Looking back on it, it was definitely a huge, huge project, but also very satisfying...
