Default Anybody running a crane 741 cam w/ Lightning headers

Im looking at buying that cam (168741)in the next day and trying to find out if im going to have reversion problems.
They are the standard wet Lightning headers on a 9.5 to 1 gen 6 motor.

I read that you have to change your lifters. Did you have to change your roller lifters?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I ran the 731 with stock lifters no problem. I went with the morel lifters above that. I have a 731 cam available if you would rather keep stock lifters. It becomes a snowball quick! First a cam then lifters next it's roller rockers and then pushrods, ETC.......

I ordered the 741
It does not have to much more lift then the cam I had in there.
I really didn't want to have to buy lifters then probably pushrods to. Already put enough into the heads and others stuff.
I will see how the lifters look with the retainer bar with the new cam.

I am running the 741 with Lightnings. But I have Jim V. Pro 1's for heads.
I run my Lightnings almost dry.
I don't have any reversion.

Do you have the lightning standard headers? I take it you just limted the flow to them then just dump the rest of the water out a water port? How hot do they get?

I had a 741 cam in my 540 with Lightning headers. They were not stock though. I dumped the the jacket water over using a restrictor valve and then using a pressure bypass valve I added raw water to the exhaust at higher engine speeds. It took a little tinkering to dial the system in, but after one false start it worked flawlessly. Running almost dry at idle the motor was pretty loud. I liked it but had many people commenting on the noise.... including 2 DNR stops and one ticket.
