went to 3 books and the bam site, confsed about the pluming the lines from the adapter to the cooler and then the oil filter

from the block to the filter ...filter to cooler ....back to the block .....try to run the oil flow thru the cooler in the opposite direction of water flow ...if you have a thermostat (you should) ,,,,it would be between the filter and cooler .....m

Ok, I'm in the middle of plumming mine as well, which fitting on the oil filter adapter(block) is out ??

that looks alot differnt than what i am running. i did a search and i get so many ways of doing it (filter,then cooler or cooler than filter) on the block which line is in and what is outgoing for the oil?

off the front is correct. as for the adapter...

the CENTER port is INTO the motor, the peripheral port is INTO the filter. if you get confused , just look at the bottom of the filter... see all the small holes around the outside ? see how they are covered by something from the inside of the filter ? thats the anti drainback valve.... so you KNOW oil only flows in one direction... IN those little holes and OUT the big center hole.


offthefront ... whats your theory for the counter flow direction of the two fluids ? curious about your thinking on that.

You counter flow the water and the oil so that the hot side of the oil is in contact with the cooler side of the water as they flow against each other it allows more heat to be drained from the oil, thus a more efficient transfer of heat.

If you are aprehensive about your hook up, you can test the oil flow by simply taking the filter off and cranking the engine until oil flow out of the remote. Oil should be coming out of the outer hole of the remote allowing oil to flow into the outside of the filter and beack into the engine from the center hole in the remote.
