Question SternJack advice

Was wondering if many of you have used a Land & Sea SternJack and whether it was effective. I might be in the market for one if so.

well MW boater, I put a stern-jack on a 27' Baja and it helped the handling a lot. Before the boat was a hand full at just 70 mph, mostly chinewalking, but with the stern-jack all the chinewalking went away. As for as speed increase, not realy sure because we changed a lot of things at the same time.

Thanks Warren. It's good to know it helps out with handling. I'll assume from the lack of replies that few OSO members are using them?

MW,
I considered this setup at one time on my Force 235. Never found out much conclusive results from anyone. Some hulls responded and others did not. Be aware that the jack puts tremendous stress on your upper and lower swivels, look at the leverage. In general boats that really needed bow lift responded best.

I have a friend that installed about six of these on customer boats. Mostly 3500 to 4500 boats with increases anywhere from 2 to 6 mph.

You'd be better off with a stand off box, stern jacks preload the transom

I had real good luck putting one on a 271 formula fastech with a 500 efi. Before the jack the boat would run 70.7 at 5400 with a 24 pitch bravo, after the change the boat would run 76.4 at 5400 with a 28 labbed bravo.

Hey Warren...How fast is that Baja going to be this year???

BTW...My Stern Jack is sitting down in South Hill with my boat as we speak.

I am putting a new engine in the Vindicator and I will try the stearn Jack after we get that done. I too want to see if it makes a difference is speed or just handeling. I go too slow right now for handeling to be an issue!

I have the IMCO version which they claim is HD. It is setup for steering rams. I would consider selling it.
