PPP Festival on the James River...
#1
Next weekend (July 19-20) at the historic Chippokes Plantation directly (southeast) across the river from Jamestown or Jamestown Island in an area known on the chart as Cobham Bay, an annual festival is held up on the plantation grounds. Food, music, artisans, etc. The best part is the number of boats that go there to gather just off the Chippokes shoreline and party in waist deep (slight tidal changes) water with a flat sandy bottom. Depending on weather and water conditions that day there could be anywhere from 300-500+ boats there of all sorts. The ladies like to venture ashore and check out the festival and take a nice walk while the men guard the boat from the various cooler-pirates wandering around boat to boat, raftup to raftup. I plan on being there Saturday after I run the AGC poker run on Friday. See ya there...

I heard thru a little birdie who knows someone who knows someone in law enforcement in that area that there will be increased "presence" on the water this year around the Chippokes area to monitor "behaviors". So be aware of your surroundings including going and coming. Man what is up with the Five-O this year around here? Saw a checkpoint in front of Chick's on the Lynnhaven between 8-10pm a couple of weeks ago as we were tied up and hanging on the deck downing some orange crushes...
It seemed like around five police boats pulling over everything that was returning from the bay with lights flashing etc. Most if not all were fishing or family cruisers with lots of people on board but still...
Regardless I'm gonna have some fun...

That's why 8 of us are going on one boat and have a designated driver
