Looking for a place that does fiberglass work in the area. Hit something last weekend and chipped the back of the lower part of the transom. Who does good work at a reasonable price? Chip is about the size of a half-dollar.

If you want good work...apparrently you've got to be ready to WAIT. I had the same exact thing happen to me a couple years ago...took a 1/2 dollar-sized chunk out of an 11-year-old RED gelcoat...I was freaked...I figured no way I'd ever get it color matched..what with the way red tends to fade. Brought it out to Nabber's, and even in the bright sun when I picked the boat up I couldn't even tell which SIDE the chip was out of!!! Phenominal work (just like the Python that is coming out of there...gorgeous). But like I said...don't bring it there if you are in a huge hurry.

Waukegan Boat Works was highly recommended to me, does all of Shogrens work and is doing a huge repair on a boat for me right now. He will get you in and out fast and can match gel with the best.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will give both places a call this week. How are they when they when it comes to pricing? Never had this problem before and don't want to fall over when I hear the price...J/K.

Everything Nabbers did for me was way, way reasonable, compared to some other quotes that I've gotten from other people that do comparable work.
Does'nt sound like you've got a major repair there, I would think Nabbers could get you out in a couple days, as long as you can get it in there. Don't know how busy he is now, but what I can tell you, is that he's not sittin around waiting for the phone to ring.
