Default Why I like the Chain better then the Big Pond

keep my boat on a lift right at the house can be boating within 10 minutes of getting home
Tons of places to go
Blarneys
Good sandbars
Can still do tack runs on the lakes with open pipes
Hardley anyone on it during the week
entertaining to watch traffic from the pier on busy weekends.
Great boating community
nice river run down to Algonquin once a year

WOW.. Blarneys still around? Live bands?
I used to have my boat on "Tradewells Marina" right by the bridge off of 31. MMMMmm Those were the days.. Lunch on the boat.. Skiing all night.. Skinny dipping with GF on Grass Lake. Best flirting place in the world.. The locks on the Fox.
Still have the drag races??

Lake Michigan doesn't often close due to flooding!

True.. but the Chain won't brake your stringer. When I was young, and stupid.. I was folllowing a 45' Sea Ray out of Benton Harbour. (or was it Diversy.. not sure) Waves are towereing.. he turned round.. me.. NOT... went for a ride.. broke a few stringers.. limped back to the docks.. took me 4 months to fix it..
Not much chance for that on the Chain.
However.. can't beat the Indiana Dunes.

I don't have to listen to the weather report before I go on the Chain,
Wish I could say the same about Lake Michigan.

C'mon guys.. Don't knock the big pond.. tho..

Where else can you go boating.. jump in the water in mid July.. 98+ and the lake temp 10 miles out is 65- You come back into the boat and have purple knees. LOL
But in all kidding aside.. I love the Lake as well as the Chain.. the Rock River, the Mississippi, and Loto. Plus the best Midwesterners and friendly boating dudes in all the states.
