Theres an island in Essex directly across from Essex boat yard and then going up the river towards Middletown before you get to the Goodspeed Opra house theres a sand bar on the left with boats there all the time and people playing water vollyball etc... both nice beach area's

Thanks,
I knew about essex The other one is news to me though.
I might check that out.
The wife hates the river water (can't blame her the bottom is nasty)lol
Anything in the sound not to far from the river though?
I know theres a sand bar in milford we used to to years ago. I was looking for something like that but maybe closer?
Indian town area or something like that but I don't know those areas. We used to go LI side alot but with the 2 year old we are trying to stay closer to CT side.
Its just easier.

jeff,
launch in clinton...
the whole inlet is a shifting bar....sheltered, and nice and calm (plus, the aqua is an ok pub)....if not, scoot in behind duck island and hide in the lee-side beaches, or scoot in to any of the shore beaches...most have small bars id'd by the local moorings...
