Any with 2wd Medimun duty trucks regret not having 4wd?
I'm toying with upgrading my 4wd 1ton to a used med duty, but they seem to be either 2wd, or $$$,$$$.
Any use their 2wd med duty in the snow, non-pulling? How did/does it do compared to 4wd pickup?

The 4x4 option on a Dodge 4500 is around $4500 but the dealer can probly do better. If I did any winter hauling up north I would want a 4x4 for sure;

I'm not aware of any municipality that plows snow with 4wd mediums.
My Freightliner pulls the boat up slippery ramps that I've spun in 4wd in a pickup before. You've got to have weight back thetre though. Alot of guys ballast them.

Chris, I have had a great season, nobody ran over me for the past two seasons. We just completed the Big Cat Run and had a great time. My trailer is a dually dually Myco and weights in at 5500 lbs. Yes I have had it on the scales, both trailer only and boat and trailer only. Kind of a pig but it sure rides and pulls nice. I lurk on here ever day but I seldom type. I hate to type! Come out to california for a ride sometime. Doug

Some guys just have high expectation levels
I was supposed to be out your way in July and it got cancelled. I had planned to give you a ring ahead. Maybe next summer.

Actually Chris, nearly every state and large town plows with 4x2 chassis. Usually bigger trucks but anything over 26k gvw is 4x2 with few exceptions. Weight is the key.
I can tell you on the GM side, the locking rear differential option is all you should need to pull up any boat ramp. I sell these trucks and I won't stock the 4x4 4500's because the ride quality is not what buyers of $60k+++trucks expect. It's acceptable for a dump truck but not a toy hauler.
The Gas 8.1 4x2 is a great truck with tons of power, an Allison trans and 10g's less money. Nice thought. I'll be stocking one next spring.
