Question Will the sun hurt a GPS???

Greetings

I was going to purchase a Magellan 315 handheld GPS unit. I had planned to mount it to my dash.

Has anyone done this? Will the direct sunlight hurt the LCD screen? I know they are weather proof, but the sun on the LOTO is pretty warm!

Thanks for any feedback.

I would imagine they have thought of that when designing these things. I had one (Garmin - returned it because too difficult to use) and that was not a problem.

I usually just throw a towel over the whole dash anyway and cover my GPS and gauges.....dont need the gauges to start fadeing from the sun and the GPS just fits under the towel as well!

I have a Garmin hand held mounted in the open. Never had a problem, but like he said, cover it if you remember.
