Any folks here capable of making a nice ID plate I can rivet to my transom? Kachina just scrawled it in like a kindergartner and I am going through the boat presently cleaning up all the deficiencies.

Our Eliminator was retagged in Mira Loma with a hand scrawled tag like Metal Bros spoke of and we were inspected occasionally in Loto,Lake Michigan,& the river and they never mentioned it ...were more worried about documentation and why no hull #s

Stainless looks good, but as lightspeed said, you better check with the US coastguard.

The rule was probably written before we had the technology to make these plates, Im not worried about the CG.

Any more info on this and CG regs? A friend has an older Nordic with a kindergarden # as well and was kicking around ideas to clean it up.

All the states use stickers to put serial numbers on boats that need em. IE homebuilts & stolen/recovers. Also when a boat gets registered with the Coast Guard and become a "Documented Vessel" the hull # are put on a plate and attached to the stringer in the engine compartment. Your non original serial # plate could trigger a teardown inspection to check it against the hidden serial#
