With the double-barrel tailpipes on the Jag, downpipes or slip-on style mufflers won't fit without extensive modification.

Years ago we used Stellings/Lobeck auger slip-in mufflers with some degree of success on a Cig, but I seem to recall that they caused significant power loss.

I'm going to call IMCO to see if they have a slip-in Gatlin style, but believe they need water to work correctly.

Any other ideas that would fit the tailpipes?

I have rigged them before where I took a small water feed line and routed it under the tailpipes, thru the transom rings and up into a small inlet in the back of the muffler. It was enough feed to keep them cool. Unless your cams have ridiculous overlap, it should be far enough away to not suffer reversion. I've also seen people drill into the inside liner of the tail to dump water into the exhaust stream.

The double-barrel does present some barriers but maybe the water feed idea might open up some ideas for you.

I have been wondering the same thing. I was thinking about a small stainless auto type muffler, I know they will discolor and wont look very good, but if they work what the heck....
Kinda like the ones they use at the drag strip, anyone ever try them???

Without some way to cool them, those exhaust gasses at 1400 degrees + will make short work of whatever is around them.

They look good though!
Chris I agree, they'd fry the transom without water. I'd like to see the pipes inside the transom.
