These came second hand from Crane,

800 SC, Intake and Exhaust, @ .050, 240 and .559 lift.

900 SC, [email protected], 252, lift is .672
Exhaust@ .050. 257, lift is .672

P.S. The 800SC and the Bulldog HP 500 uses the same cam. Don't quote me on these numbers, but I believe these to be correct.

I don't know about the bulldog 500. For a 540 CID it only puts out 500 hp and that 240 degree cam would make more power. If that is the cam then that motor is really a 'dog' making only .9Hp/CID.

For someone who KNOWS FOR SURE...How many cubes is the Merc 800SC? And what are the cam specs and lobe seps on this engine? I'm interested in knowing because I know of a boat that has the Merc 800SC's "WAR HAWK" (41' Apache) in it and boy does it ever have a SWEET idle.

Call Crane and tell them you wan't the cam# for the motors in question. Then go to the cam card section of their web sight and print the card. I'm going throught this right now trying to come up with a cam for my motors.

Did you know that the 500 carb cam and the 500 efi cam are very different but the motors make the same HP. I'm still trying to figure that one out

According to my "Mercruiser High Performance Service Manual #3" for my 1994 motor from Mercury. Can't speculate on later yrs.

The 800SC is a 572ci.
4.50 Bore x 4.50 stroke
7.5:1 CR
cam is Hyd. non roller (also used in the 600SC based on the 502)

lift at valve w/1.7 rockers .559/.559
lift at cam .329/.329
duration @.050 300/300

Take it for what it's worth. No other cam specs are listed.

Hmmmm......300/300 duration @ .050 sure doesn't sound right. It would fall right on its face....I don't think you could even get the thing to idle below 1500rpm. I think we need to look at it again.

My Merc manual has some strange cam info in it too. Im not at home so I cant read it exactly but they had some numbers like 396 degrees of duration. Figure out how they did that! I think they intentionally put in misleading info so people have to buy the cams from them, or they have a real bad proof reader.
