hummm is this a timed race, or just fun? whats the story? looks like fun, but at the same time dangerous.

Says right under the video:

"Using a lipstick camera we mounted it onto Team Bohhica's rollbar. This gives you an Idea of how fast these boats travel during an actual race. Top speed for this boat was around 115 MPH. This footage is during the 2007 US Championship race that was held in Grant's Pass Oregon during the Memorial Day Weekend known as Boatnik."

It's a time race for good reason, Imagine two boats trying to go head to head in that narrow of a channel? They do (The Boats) will sometimes catch each other and it makes for a wild drag race!
