Smile 42 Corsa or....

Hi there all you old school guys !!

This is my friends boat. He owns it since 8 years. We have allways talked about it as a Corsa 42. Some years ago a marine company here in Sweden added the swim platform so he calls it a 45 Corsa..
But after I showed him some old original Corsa adds what I found here at OSO we are not sure it is a Corsa. The boat is originaly rigged with Ford Sabre diesels 300hp's on TRS-drives. Now the drives are changed to SSM 3A's

Please help us out here. I know the big knowledge is to find in just this OSO section.

Thanks
Mange

Mange:

Corsa Marine built a 41' which had a hull identical to your friend's boat. The deck on your friend's boat looks slightly different though. What are the first three characters of the hull identification number? Corsa Marine's MIC code is "MPB."

I have a 26' Corsa, they are great boats! I know Bob Bower personally, and have been in the Miami factory where the original molds and tooling for the 25' Martini, 26' Corsa, 30' Corsa and 41' Corsa are still stored.

Harry,

Big thanks for that info. Do you think Mr Bower have anymore info? And do you have any idea if the 41 Corsa is a splash from Cigarette 41 or? Just had a email from my friend who says he can't find any hull#

Thanks
Mange

How did the 44 Tempest ride? I would think they were inboard back then and thats a huge heavy hull.

The tempest was a great ride... Surface drives and the mid mounted cat version worked out well as I remember. I used to keep my Seahawk at the old Performer Plant when all of this went down. The running bottom of the Corsa and the Tempest are identical. The 3' was added as a platform and a shadow for the drives.

There was a 44 Tempest in southwest Florida for 10k in a field on craigslist looked rough but nice lines on the hull.
