Here is a video clip of the Top Fuel Hydro that went over, and over, and over in San Diego yesterday.

I have always said those guys are Nuts & speaking of it takes a Huge set to climb in a fuel hydro !!! For those who have never witnessed them run in real time words cannot explain it... I will add that the fuel cars are amazing but to me the boats are just in a league of their own...
No doubt like hp500efi said the canopy saved his life & definatly by far the best thing that ever happened to that sport !! Had that same wreck happened before the canopies he would most likely not have survived that one... Those guys were running nearly the same speeds back in the late 80's as they are today without the canopies...

Now if someone would just find a way to put two of those capsules in an offshore boat, perhaps we can see a few more saved lives in the the future !

If sitting in that capsule is as tight as a fighter jet, those guys training missions can be anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
Bottom line, you come back alive should an accident occur on the race course.

Nothing is Guaranteed, even the fighter pilots, the risk is managed and every safety item that can be forseen is thrown in. Racing is Dangerous.
With dragboats you must first work your way to the top tier, Starting with elimanator classes/ Bracket classes.

I sat in one. You pretty much need a shoe horn to get in. I could not race offshore in something that tight. Besides the premise of the whole capsule is it comes loose from the boat as the boat disintegrates. Very different sports, stresses and needs. IMO
