k-plane pump fix
#2
Jason, 1.) make sure it's the pump; if the other one(other side) is working ok then switch it over to check if the k-plane ram or hoses aren't the problem. 2.) make sure all electrical connections including the attached solenoids are clean, tight and functional. 3.) with the pump disconnected from the hoses, bench test it by running the motor in both directions (12v to green then 12v to blue) 4.) assuming everything has checked out so far, remove the hydraulic pump and valve body and thoroughly clean every thing. The area and bench surface you're working on is important; everthing should be lint-free (no paper towels); pay attention to the check balls and springs (easy to lose). If all the lines going to the k-plane are clear, the ram is ok on the k-plane, the plane itself moves freely (unlike the one on my boat that was jammed), the motor runs freely in both directions, then the valve body cleaning should do the trick. Don't go off buying new parts until you've gone through this procedure. Best of luck - Jeff
