I need any info or tricks to handle more HP for my Borg Warner velvet drive 10 -18 014 's. I am not in the states to get a pro to rebuild them.

I have purchased 9 plate kits for my local guy to rebuld them. I have heard of increasing line presure Is it Hard to do or whats involved? Any other tricks?

Engines are 502's approx 550 hp.

I don't think any body is going to help with this. I dont think you can get 9 in with out doing machine work and buying a different hub mabe 8 clutches. Dont run the pressure up to high it will not cool good. The regulator is in the selector valve do this last measure the pressure before and then make changes with a thin warsher. I would only raise pressure 20psi. Your 550 should not need a lot of transmition work. hope this helps.

I was thinking of rebuilding one of my BW trannies so I stoped by BAM a week or so ago and they do not sell parts for us weekend mechanics. They were very friendly and helpful though.

thanks for the help guys, yeah I realise some machining of the pressure plate is involved for the 9 plate kit. I will call Mr Earl Today for and tips for my trans guy.

I spoke to Huber and they were very helpful but unfortunately do all ther stuff in house but they said they could fit and set up the clutch up if I sent it to them but time was against me to do that,Only wish the boat was in the states !!!!!!!Well I got the transmissions back today from the local my local and will be going in next week.
