Lucas Oil Outerlimits Announces P1 Partnership
The Lucas Oil Offshore Race Team has announced their 2009 plans and is partnering with Outerlimits to compete next season in Powerboat P1 World Championship Evolution Class.
Mike Fiore, President of Outerlimits declared “It makes perfect sense to pull together the premium American brands of Chief Engines and Whipple Superchargers which are the perfect combination to take on the tough competition in Europe”. The Outlerlimits teams secured solid third place finishes in the 2007 and 2008 Powerboat P1 World Championship seasons.
“We see an opportunity to help Lucas Oil in the marine industry though our racing, Poker Runs, and trade shows” added Fiore. The new 43 Outerlimits is cutting its teeth this week competing in the SBI/APBA World Championships in Key West. The team is very pleased with the #77 Lucas Oil Outerlimits entry taking second place in the first of three races held on Wednesday. Fiore states “Yesterday was certainly a great start as the team dials in and prepares this brand new boat for next years Powerboat P1 race season.”

Lucas Oil throttleman, Nigel Hook commented “After eight years of successfully representing Lucas Oil we’re excited to broaden our footprint in the marine marketplace and continue to extend our presence worldwide”. Hook added “Now’s the time! This 43 Outerlimits is absolutely the best boat for the European circuit, and to top it all off we have Joe Sgro on the wheel. We are by far the most experienced v-hull racers in the world and we plan to pilot this boat to victory.”

I saw the Lucas Oil OL being towed home on I-95 in Norwalk, CT this morning, being followed by another boat that was completely covered up. It looked awesome on the highway...I'm mad I wasn't able to get down there this year.
