Default fuel lines

Hey guys,
I am in the precess of changing my fuel lines from 3/8 to 1/2,removed the hose, fitting and the pickup tube today from the tank,i found a valve in the fitting on the tank that i assume is an anti drain back valve which probaly is not good for horsepower and fuel demand of a not stock engine, and also there a steel screen on the bottom of my pickup tube.
My question is that i read somewhere that you should remove the valve from the fitting and the screen also,is this true?I am changing that fitting to a bigger one anyways so i wouldnt be using it,but what about the screen???I think i was having a fuel restriction at higher rpm but it would keep pressure though???????

ak,
that drain back is USGC stuff. I think there is a way around it, by putting a shut off valve in line?? Not sure. But if they board you, be sure there is enough stuff on top of it so they cant find it..

Just kidding. But it is a requirment. So step lightly. I think mine is missing, but I cant remember.. No comment.
