Default looking for some input 26-28 ft

Looking for options for a well built manufacturer in the sizes of 26-28 single screw from 1999-2005. I have a sweet spot for powerquests and formulas though. I heard that the 27 formula takes a while to get on plane and its very heavy. I heard some guys talking about a stepped hull and have no idea what that is. Any other input for other manufacturers? I appreciate some feedback. Thanks

I just picked up a 2000 Powerquest 280 Silencer. I love it!! I would highly recommend Powerquest. It has a 502, everything is stock. It runs 66 mph on GPS. It's not the fastest boat out there, but it is a great ride.

There are about 1000 posts on this site about what you are asking comparing 25-28 boats. Go back and read old threads. There is a wealth of information.

You will get answers that will generate more questions. As said, where do you plan on using it? Lake, River, Bay areas? Are you going to overnight in it, or just cruise. By your post, you seem like you are looking for a stern drive boat. How fast are you looking to run. How big a tow vehicle do you have? is that an issue? One of the keys to having a good time boating, is getting a boat that does most, if not all of the things that you plan on doing with it. Once you buy it, you want to be happy. Its a great time to buy, a poor time to try to sell, if you get something you are not happy with. Their is a wealth of knowledge here, you will get the answer to all of your questions. Good luck.
