I used a pair of Mach Sterndrivers before the Merc Bravo1's were introduced. I think if you have drives fairly deep the Machs are pretty decent and will hook up well. I gained lots of everything when I went to Bravo 1's. The Mach has little if any rake, and is only 14 ½ inch diameter. That may be perfect for your application. I had a little too much power and my drives were a bit high. I also broke two blades at different times. They just ripped off. I did not hit anything. There was an obvious defect in the casting. I think Mach would be an OK deal for a spare prop if the price is right. I believe Teague Custom Marine still has plenty of Machs in stock. There are Bravo 1's for sale new in the $400-500 range so I would not pay close to that for the Mach. There are usually a few for sale in OSO classifieds.
I have two friends ( one is a blown Cigarette Cafe w/TRS ) that are still using their Mach Sterndrivers and are OK with them. But, they have not tried anything new in a few years.
Good luck.

When I went with the shorter drive on my old boat I tried a Mach Sterndriver. Because of the elevated x-dim I was no longer able to get on plane with a Mirage plus. The Bravo planed pretty good, but it would slip alot. The Mach was a rocket out of the hole. The boat would litterally leap onto plane. Even with my raised x-dim the boat planed better than before and would actually make an acceptable ski boat. The problem is that the prop was totally wrong for the application. Top end was limited to around 60 mph due to 60% slippage! Never the less, I did offer to purchase the prop, only because of it's planing capabilities, unfortinatly the owner declined.

Hey Cord. Seems you had a little different experience with Mach than I did. Usually a larger diameter prop works a little better out of the hole with raised or high X dim. With the Bravo One's larger diameter I was exactly the opposite from your experience. But, that just proves that props work differently with every situation. I was using mine on a Cigarette. What were you using yours on ? Was the Mach a lower pitch that the Bravo you were using ?
Anyway, good luck dialing in whatever prop you end up with.

I ran one on my 253 Checkmate it was a 25 pitch Mach patriot I had great luck with it....I guess it all depends on your application.
Teague advertises them for under $300 I think...look in the back of Power boat mag. or call them....

I used a Mach 26 4 blade clever LH for awhile on a 27 Fever, ran great, had no complaints other than it was a little too much prop. I finnally went to a Rev 4 23p which gave me a little more rpm and speed.

The boat was a 88 Concord LS-7 with a 454 mag. I sank the boat this past summer and sold it a few months ago for a couple of grand. I found the 24 Bravo 1 and Hydromotive to give me about the same top rpm (the hydromotive was more efficent so it was faster) so the mach was at least a couple of inches smaller. That was part of the problem with the prop (it was undersized) and it proably helped boost the planing. I was wishing for a larger one to try, but it simply wasn't available.
