Default Iron wear debris in oil filter

I cut open the oil filter and wash the wear debris out of the filter element, How much iron dust/wear debris is normal in an oil filter ?

How much do you have? Let's see....you're having some oiling problems, so your going to a larger oil cooler and now finding metal in the filter? Might be more than just oil cooling issues. Is this the first oil change after building the engine? Did there appear to be any bearing material?
