It's been out for a year. The system does not allow for the installation of a tie bar, so it's high-performance usage is out.
Formula was one of the first to install it on their mid-size SunSports. It was "not entirely without issues" on the Mercury side of things. If you go to the Formula Owners section, there's a thread.

I watched them doing demos down at Grove Harbour and it was pretty amazing to watch how quickly the average joe could learn to use it. I watched them walk the bow of the boat along a sea wall probably less than a foot away for as long as they wanted to go. I wish I would have tried it.
