Default Current trade value for my wife's BMW - Need to make a decision

Can anyone tell me what the current trade (or auction) value is for a 2006 BMW 530xi wagon, 35k miles, with premium and cold weather packages? My wife's lease is coming up, she really likes the car and would keep it and drive it for another year or two but it looks like the lease end residual value is a lot higher that what KBB and Edmunds online are showing for trade value.

Does anyone know whether BMW financial will negotiate the lease end purchase price?

Thanks for the help.

I would say about the same depending on color/condition, although it's a very tough market right now. Some lease companies will negotiate the end -term values, now. Some may stay firm depending on their policies, also some companies will sell the car to one of their dealers at a discounted price, who could in turn sell it back to you at a minimal profit and re-finance the deal. (It's better if you know someone at a BMW dealer) First off call BMW Financial and try, The worst they could tell you is NO.

Thanks LS and 007joe-

That is about where KBB and Edmunds were. It is a no-paintwork car. The color is amethyst gray metallic which is an odd color - my wife likes it.

That was the plan - If BMW will not work with me directly I will go to the dealer and see where things are. It is my understanding that the BMW dealers have to buy the off-lease cars, especially if it was bought and serviced with them.

Last I knew they have to buy a certain amount of their lease turn in's to keep there status as a BMW certified used dealer. Not all of them.

I think it would be cheaper for the leasing co. to negotiate rather than take a car back. But what do I know, I've seen banks let things sit and rot rather than take the hit on it. Has anybody negotiated with a leasing company? Doug

BMW financial can not sell you the car. You would need to do your negotiation w/ the dealer.

Does the dealer pay less than the lease buyout prices from BMW financial if they buy the car? If not, the dealer would be way over market from the start.

I plan to call BMW financial tomorrow to see what they say.
