I am coming out of a 96' Sonic 31ss with 454 mags. I just came across a 1998 37 stiletto w/ twin 500 hp's for 75k. No trailer and 300 hours. Does this seem too cheap? How fast will these engines push this model? Any weight injfo? I have never been on an outerlimits...how do they ride and handle? What is a "stop bottom" boat? Thanks alot for any info...these forums are the best.

my boss has a 1996 37 similar to the boat you are talkin about. his has side by side 540 bulldogs tuned to make around 600 to 650 horse. With extension boxes on the xr's two guys and a full tank of fuel she runs right at 93 to 94 mph. great riding boat and roomy cabin for that size boat. The notched hull seems to be a nice alternative to steps

I owned a 1998 37 Outerlimits, originally T/HP500, Bravo, side-by-side. The boat ran 82mph on GPS, and as I recall, was about 9200 pounds. The boat rode great and was a wave crusher. The single step was in just the right spot, my Bravo boat also had a notch in the transom, and the boat handled very well.
After a year with the HP500s I went to ATI Centrifical super chargers (Pro Chargers) and many other upgrades. I got to 114mph, 850 or so HP.
I had my boat from 1999 through 2001 season, when I upgraded to Skater. Bullock Marine sold mine to a guy in the North East.
Outerlimits makes the finest V-bottom boat in the industry!
Call Mike or Paul at Outerlimtis, give them the hull number, and they can give you the history of the boat you are considersing.
PS: tons of pics and specs of the 1998 37 OuterLimits at my website listed below.

That looks like the boat that has been for sale a while out east. I inquired on that a while ago, and they seemed firm on their $129k price. At least now they appear to be more serious at $75. Back then, the pics appeared as though it need a little TLC to me. Never went to see it, but it will ride well for you.
The side by side 37's seem to take a long time to plane and a lot of bow rise until you get to cruising speeds. That boat will ride well, though, and if it is turnkey, the price isn't too bad. I never rode on one until I bought mine and not disappointed. I came from a 32 Fountain and the 37 is not near as spry and racey feeling, but I came from a small 32' to a large 37' boat, so the ride was much appreciated by my governor. Unfortunately, with the market the way it is, I still have that 32'er if I want to feel spry again :-)
You may see 82, but if you have a wife that packs like mine, figure on 75 :-)
At $75k, it's worth a look, check it out well, have it surveyed, and water test it before you hand a check over.

That boat spent most of its life sitting in the CT river in Glastonbury. Maybe Seaboard Marina could tell you something about the boat?
