That doesn't surprise me with the state of the economy. Look at what has been going on with the Auto Manufactures and cars are a necessity in life and boats are just for recreational purposes.

Shame that affects a lot of people all the way up the line. Some of the outfits got Bailout money to stop this exact thing from happening!

Very sad. I think things are going to get worse before they get better.

I thought the "Bailout Money" was going to be used to prevent this?

I'll be at the New Orleans boat show this weekend and should get a true feel how the industry is seeing things which I'm sure is not so good...any of you guys associated with this part of the industry?

Hell no it went to company retreats and Xmas/end of year bonus checks.

It's going to get alot worse before it gets better.

Bailout money has not helped the marine industry on either side - the marine retail end and dealers buying floorplans. most likely in 2009 more will drop out. boat repos for 2008 are at an all time high at both ends. 2008 has more repos and buy backs than if you take the last 7 years and add them together. The boat dealerships and boat manufacturers that have not gone out of business have laid off at least 25% to 60% of their employees and most have cut back production close to 50%. Dealer orders are way down
