Default Allan4 dyno #'s....yes folks, I am still alive....!

Well, you know how they say you can't beleive everything you read.....they were right. These guys post some outrageous s*** for dyno numbers, and they are full of ......(in the new forum) balonga....HeHeHe.....well, I thoug it was funny.

Anyway, I read a trillion articles as was concvinced that the parts I picked would crank out about 600 ponies and even more torque. However, not so. Good news is that it fires up right now, just a touch of ignition, and idles well and wants a whole bunch more than the 6000 RPM we ran it to. No bad news really, just not the numbers I thought it would make.

520 hp, 575 tq. I don't have the sheet in front of me, but the torque curve is long and flat, it breaks 500ft/lbs/tq at about 28-2900 rpm and stays above 500ft/lbs/tq until over 5500 rpm. It's a good match of parts and I'm pretty happy I guess for two reasons. 1. It runs....first full assembly I have done and I twisted every bolt on that motor myself, from the crank up, 2. it's a n/a motor and makes good tq numbers. Plus it'a all name brand, high quality parts and will hold together. I will prop it for about 5500 rpm, at least that is the plan. I have the other motor almost out, I will pull it on Monday, and put the new motor in later in the week. Hopefully I will have it running by next weekend.

What do you current/past 24Outlaw owners think on speed?? I am hoping to break 75 on the GPS. Original thoughts were I may hit 80, but with the lower than expected dyno numbers, 75 would be okay. I am thinking I will spin at least a 25 wheel...any thoughts?? Chime in if you can, my swelling ego has been tarnished....for now!! Glad to be back on the board, even though I do not ecpect to be around much for the next month or so. after that, I should be hitting the sight more regularly. I have pics I will post whenever my computer illiterate a$$ figures out how to be technologically advanced.....and of course, I stop playing with myself so much. Later A4

ALLAN, dude, you are alive!! We were getting the milk cartons and the post office bullitins ready for the missing ads

I wouldn't say 520 HP is a bad thing bro. Better than the 320 (at the most) the 454 puts out! It's all good baby. My shiot should be ready to roll mid april. Keep us posted on the progress and get those pics up here man.

You sound a little disapointed. What name parts did you use? What did you build? CID, heads, cam, intake, exhaust, etc.

Great to hear from you, Allan!
It's been a while, but busy is busy, right?

Your motor sounds kick-ass. 520 is really pretty good. Not 600, but a hell of a lot more than 330. Good luck! Keep us posted!

I personally believe some dyno's are friendlier than others. Water testing is more important than the dyno anyway unless you change your motor to get the HP you want. Get everything right and you may very well hit your 80 mph. I've seen a lot of boats with huge HP not run for crap. If you get it right you'll may be dogging up guys with the same boat with "600" dyno HP. That will be a lot of fun.

Yeah wettevette, you're right about that. The dyno guy said he could make me a printout of whatever numbers I want, I said that's for morons, I want the real deal. I know alot of guys inflate their numbers, so like you said, I am anxious to get the boat on the water and test some props. Dyno guy swore I could not find a more accurate dyno, he just had it calibrated.

Tank..........Wad up!?!?! Milk Cartons....Hahahaha. Looks like you will be spanking me if we ever get together! I think you said you will make high 500's in hp and tq. Seeing you are about...oh... 2,500 miles East of Cincy, not very likely! By the way, the back seat lifts right out of the boat after pulling 10 bolts and five screws. Very simple. I'll keep you posted.

Daze you boys are getting some good weather in tampa from what the weather channel has said. We are mid sixties and in about a month or so the weather will even out and get mcuh warmer....but much wetter. Have fun

Marty, I am sort of dissapointed, but I really pretty happy that it is as seemingly "durable" as it is. Fires up immediately, even with a few different carbs we ran. Lumps good, but also idles well at about 7-800 rpm. All temps and presures were really good (exh, water, oil)Here are the goodies for all interested.

502Mag bored .034 oversize to a 4.500 bore, 509ci
Stock crank and rods
Kieth Black 9.9:1 hyperueatic pistons, Chiles and Albert high perf rings
Melling HIgh Volume oil pump--makes about 70psi at wot...with the lesser of the two springs they gave me!!
All Crane valve train, hydro roller, 226/232 dur, .598/610 lift at .050
Double roller timing chain
Gm High Perf Aluminum Heads, Rect port 315cc runners, 118cc chambers, 2.25, 1.88 valves, 1.70 Summit roller Rockers and ARP studs for heads, Crane triple valve springs.
Edlebrock air Gap intake, Holley 850 Doulbe pumper, MSD 6A and Bosch Platinum #1 plugs (dyno guy talked me into the plugs, he has seen the AC's blow out of aluminum heads a number of times....news to me!!)
Block was balanced, align bored, bored, honed, cam beraings new, crank shaved .030/.030, reconditioned rods.....ummmm, what else. I think that's it, but I remember having something else done to the block before assembley

Lower end was blueprinted to factory specs.....yadah, yadah....

So, good stuff, expensive stuff, so it should live and run well. I would have liked to have seen better numbers....next time I will just throw a blower on the damn thing and save some $$$. I'm, glad I went this route though, always wanted to build one from the butt up. I'll post spedds in a month or so when the weather warms up. Later folks....A4.

Yea, I would have thought that with 10:1 and al your parts then 1.1-1.15HP/CID would be easy. Out of the box heads and manifolds might be your limiting factor. They probably don't flow what you expect. Should have ported and port matched those pieces. The Tq is right there just need to pump up the Hp a bit.
