Coating for aluminum 3/16 5052
#1
What can I use to coat my horse trailer floor? The trailer is a 6 horse show trailer used to haul cutting horses over extended distances.
Rubber foam sheets cover the floor and they are covered with a high durometer mat the horses stand on. The combination of both layers absorb highway shock and reduce fatigue to the horse. However, the horses feet don't come in contact with the aluminum floor. Therefore, the coating will be protected by the rubber layers.
Without a barrier coating, electrolysis occurs due to the horses urine and fecal matter. The electrolysis pockets resemble that found on a boat run in salt water.
We are starting with with a new trailer and would like to protect/seal the floor before putting the trailer in service.
Input will be appreciated.
