Default Mercury Parts- Discounted? Could this be true?

A buddy of mine was in the local marina and overheard the service manager and parts guy talking about new updated Mercury Parts pricing. He overheard them say that the price is half of what it was last season.

Did Mercury lower the price?

It could also be possible he overheard something incorrectly.

Doubt it but it sure would be nice. I'm due for new couplers and I'd be more than happy to get them for half price!

There was a thread a couple weeks ago about drives or transom assemblies being quite a bit less for 2009....I priced XR gears today and was told the cost has gone up considerably since Jan 1.

I have the updated prices in my computers and was looking around at parts that are fast moving. I don't see any deals, looks like increases to me.

If they were smart and wanted to increase their volume, they might want to reconsider their pricing. I for one would rather make my purchases from them than many other suppliers. If they are not careful, they will go the same way as the auto manufacturers. Just my .02

See my prior post,

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...did-hurts.html

The Alpha drives were also dropped considerably. Bravo's are still higher at dealer than the previous street prices, but I expect the street prices will go up quickly.
