Don't remember the year but it was something like the 1930's or 40's and was on pontoons of amphibious airplanes......probably not what you were expecting huh?

I was thinking something like that, with some of the Old Gold Cup boats.

The Vikings incorporated stepped hulls in their wood boat designs.

I thought that Larson Boats made a 26 ft. Senza, that had a step bottom back in the late 1980's.

You guys have it. The first Patent was done in 1918.

In 1920 stepped bottom boats were banned in Gold Cup racing. They were too fast and were looking for parity, I guess. Some things never change.

It still goes back to "it’s not what you do, but, how well you do it"

Here is a real question for you.

What is the fastest theoretical speed of a full displacement hull?

Default WOW Thanks Brad

I did not know stepped hulls were made that early. How about production powerboats like Cigg, Fountain, Hustler or Wellcraft. Production Pleasure Powerboats. I know most in the late 80s were nonstep and all of a sudden most were stepped. I know powerboat racing has been into stepped hulls for years but when did they start using stepped hulls for production boats? OK here's another one for debate. Strait nonstepped hull for handling or Stepped hull for topend speed? What would we rather have. Let the Debate begin again
