Does anyone know of insurance claim issues resulting from personal injury,a stolen boat,or damaged boat that have come up due to a modified engine or replaced engine that hasent been reported to your company. This is probably grounds for a claim denial or reduced compensation . I'm sure most guys dont call their ins. everytime they increase the speed of their boat a few mph,but does anyone know of actual claim problems that have occured due to this. Thanks Frank.. I have Statefarm...oops

While staying PC, Personal injury would be the biggest, and the biggest claim if you ever had one. Trust me they make boats look cheap. Comprehensive, Act of god, whatever. Ins company would never know, nor would they really care "probably" care, just cut a check for agreed value(being original).
But yea if you caused say an accident and you had altered the boat from its original status (insured capabilities), I am willing to bet on a Liability they could deny claim.
Liability claims are the ones that bankrupt people, you know like death, injury, greedy lawyers.

Your policy is written based on certain parameters. If you change the parameters(HP) and don't change the policy, you're essentially lying to or misleading the insurance company about what they are insuring.
In other words, you're paying the rate you should have been.
