My dad has a 28' Pantera and that thing rips through anything you dish at it. I have been looking at the fountain 27's and before i really get set on it, can it handle any type of decently rough stuff. It will see a lot of ocean action cause i will be going down to Atlantic City, NJ with it and thru NY harbor(gets nasty). How does the 29' compare in similiar conditions, both with a single.

Panteraracin...I owned a 98 27 Fountain with a Carb. 500 H.P. I boated mostly on the Potomac River and Chesapeake bay. When you say rough stuff what do you mean? If its over 3 footers you will start to see the boats limitations. We loved the boat but its not intended to run through 4-6 foot seas all day. The boat can handle it, but you may be a little sore. The bottom is just not long enough. The 29 single is a little better, closer to the Pantera you are talking about.

Well we had a 24' baja outlaw and it ran pretty good. Do u know if it runs as good or better than that. Sometimes the ocean gets pretty nasty and i want to be able to go through some of the bigger stuff. I would probably looking at runnin through 4-6's.

The Outlaw would probably give a better ride do to the 24 deg. deadrise.

I have only had my 27 Fever in 4+ waves once, it handled it but boat was launching, allot of fun, but would not want to do it all day. The 29 is probably betting in rough water. Also I think a 28 Pantera is allot heavier than a 27 or 29 Fountain?? So more weight it will handle better in big waves, also more weight=more HP for same Speed?

Thanks for the info. Yeah our pantera is quick, but it seems like it should run faster w/ the amount of power we have in it. Is your 29 a single? Our 28' pantera is twins which really affects the attitude of the bow when you launch off of a wave. We shouldve gone w/ a single. The single 28's run through anything, we can't keep up with them, they fly so level. The 24' even runs better than our twins. So i will def. be lookin for a single setup in this size range.

I agree with Mike. I've had my 29 Fever out in Galveston Bay in 3-4 and it was fine. Waves were pretty close together. Don't think I really caught air more than a couple of times. She's got a single HP500 and I think it's a great setup for that boat.

Damn i would be interested, but i need to get rid of one of my car's first before i can afford one. I hope to get one this season, but if not, i will just save up a little more and get one next season. I really want a 33' executioner and i want to do a custom interior in it. I have seen a lot of them around for $40k-$65k. But if i don't get that i will be lookin at the 29'fever. Our 28' has twin reworked 502efi's so they are heavy. We put aluminum heads on it though for the reduced weight in the tail end. We also added 300lbs. of lead shot up front in the bow which helped a bit, but not like i expected. Thanks again. By the way, Where is everyone from. I am from NJ, where there is alot of awesome boating, but some of the roughest.

I'm from Houston, TX, but originally from NJ. I used to run a 16 Donzi out of The Highlands before I moved. Now, I boat Clear Lake and Galveston Bay in TX.
Keep searching and the right boat at the right price will turn up. That was me a year ago, and it took awhile before I found the sweet deal on my 29.
