Default Reputable Boat Dealer??

I am looking to make my first boat purchase and am looking to spent around 30K. I have seen a boat that I am interested in for sale in Constantia, NY that has been listed on eBay twice without selling, boattrader and on Craigslist. The individual selling the boat appears to be Mark at Stern Drive Specialist. I have read some older posts here about the good repair work from Chris and was wondering if anyone has bought a boat from them? They are not registered with the BBB and I did find a couple of posts online saying they were scammed and recommended staying away from purchasing a boat. I just wanted to check with everyone here since some of the prices seem to good to be true. Thank you.

Don't know the boat or the dealer but you are smart to check things out in advance. I would maybe not be so concerned about negative comments (you can't make EVERYONE happy) if you don't plan to use them on an ongoing basis for service, storage etc.

Also, things change. The dealer I originally purchased from could not have made the deal better or done a better job at service in the first couple of years. The last service visit resulted in them giving me a dirty boat plus losing my keys and not responding to repeated requests to rectify, so I decided not to do anymore business with them.

If I were you in these times I would not go to a dealer and look in the repo yards, your 30k will go a lot farther.

I recently bought a 35 Fountain , fever over the internet from Eastcoast Flightcraft inc in Middleton ,Ma. I dealt with a few different guys there and they were great to work with . I drove 900 miles to go look at it and bring it home one way . The boat was every thing they said it was . I 'm very happy with the Boat . The service department was great also . they checked all the wheels and tires prreasures and replaced a tailight and gave me the 5way adapter I needed all after the deal was done . that speaks volums for me . The service manager is a regular poster on this website , his name is Bob Jordan { blown Income } Sorry I don't remimber all the rest of there names but they were great to work with . thanks Tim

I'm sure I know the boat you are talking about. You might be interested in mine... I'll do way better than $30k.

I definitely hate to think the worst when I read something on the internet, but as an investigator and given the times, it is hard not too! I looked at the labmarine site and they have a great selection.

I have looked at some repo sites, but it didn't go to far because they required a subscription. I will be sure to look for more. Is there a certain thing to search for as keywords other than repo I am in Northern IL so anything around this area would be great.

Chris, you did a nice job on the Pantera, but it is not exactly what I am looking for, but thank you.
