If I repower with a new Mercruiser 5.7 MPI do I need a fuel return line to the gas tank?

It may sound like a dumb question, but before I glass the floors in, I want to be sure.

I belive the new style mercruiser packages are set up to return to there self. Not the tank.

I have heard it both ways. So to be safe I am going to put a return plug in, and if I don't need it so be it.
