Merc trim oil??

Forgive me for being a dummy- what type of oil goes in the reservoir for the trim cylinders? Is it "normal" hydraulic oil or does it need to be something special. Thanks!

I just buy the trim oil from Merc. I have been told it's just 30 weight oil. Can't get myself to put regular motor oil in there

They highly recommend purified water from the White River! LOL

Wish I was more help here. I haven't had to put any trim fluid in the Scarab since I bought it.

10W30 is just fine. Merc manual I have even calls for that.

There is a tag right on my pumps for my drives, K-planes and hatches, 10w30 or 10w40. All I have used is 10w30. If I used the boat in the southern states I might switch to 10w40.
