Default Another wired remote question......

Alright guys--I have found one guy that has completed this install and his boat is inaccessible in storage right now so I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. I have this head unit.....

Kenwood has told me it can't be done--BS!!

Come on guys--I know the audiophiles out there can figure this out.

you would need the pinouts for each unit to be able to figure it out...maybe if Kenwood would be kind enough to supply you with that it would make it easier.

I had 3 of those remotes in my Baja, but had them connected to the MR400 receiver. None of my documentation covered the pinout layout.

Good luck

Certain remotes work with certain head units. Same with Clarion stuff. If Kenwood says it can't be done, then most likely it can't.

I have a Sony HU and wanted to use a certain Sony remote. The specs for the remote didn't list my HU as compatible. But the newer replacement remote was compatible. Both uses same plugs to connect. I called Sony tech line and was told no worky. Seeing both used the same connector I figured I'd give it a try anyways....It works just fine. Only problem is that my remotes display doesn't list the song title track playing from a CD as it does on a compatible HU. Just states CD. Also when playing my ipod touch thru the stereo, the display just says AUX. The radio station channel, input selections, volume and everything else are displayed normally.
I think since it's not 100% compatible is the reason the tech guy said it won't work. Or they just don't know their own products I'll go with that.

if they dont help ya the first time around with your request, try and hit them from a different angle and say your ride was broken into and parts stolen resulting in a ripped off plug from the remote and you want to reconnect the wires to the plug but dont know what goes where.....and try from a friends email for the same excuse for the head unit....

Just to let everyone know the reason the display doesnt list songs because it is getting sent to much information from the head unit but was told if it was marine head unitit would. I am also looking into head units with wired remotes put don't like sonys beacause of the remote is too big and I don't like cutting that big of hole into the boat. Looking at kenwood put waiting until the new 09 stuff goes out in a month
