Can't wait to finally participate in Boyne Thunder! Few questions for you guys. I am planning on this being my first poker run. We are definitely not new to boating and attend boating events regularly, just never an organized poker run. Am I asking for trouble by making this my first? I see the pics of all the factory boats that attend and I just don't want to be overwhelmed. Also, a crew member of mine will be turning 21on the 10th. Is there a good party crowd around the docks/bars in town. If she is giving up her 21st birthday to spend it on the boat, I want to make sure she has a good time
Thanks
Also, boat is a Powerquest 38'.

The guys who live up there are the ones who can fill you in, but last year the wife and I went up to check it out - without our boat - since it was new (to me) and my trailer wasn't ready for the 900mi. round-trip.
I have been to that region many times over the years, but it was my first trip to Boyne City and to their poker run. Let me tell you - you won't be disappointed. Yes, there are some awesome big boats, but some smaller ones, too -- you'll fit right in with that 38'. The event was well-organized, well-supported by the community, and incredible, even just to watch. The town is a blast on Friday night, there's plenty of places to party; your 21-year old will have a blast.
When the boats left and headed out to lake Mi. we headed up to Charlevoix for the day. Shopped, drank beer, then headed back to Boyne for the post-run party by the lake. You'll love it.

Nkissau - Blackjack did a great job of summing it up. Plenty of places to party that are within a 5 minute walk of the marina. The marina is pretty much at the center of town.
There are a few factory boats and plenty of private boats. Sizes range from upper 20's all the way up to a 52'. (The Iceman - you have to see this boat to appreciate it....Wild!!) But, at a 38, you'll be more than set.
And hey....this is northern michigan....everyone's friendly!! We're just happy to see anyone after the long winter
I just got back from an organizational meeting tonight. Feel free to PM me if you have additional questions.

06 and 07 boyn thunder I ran in my 27 Fountain (got my a$$ kicked) 08 stepped up to a 35 Cig. Wouldn't ya know One motor took a dump and wasn't able to be fixed soon enough to make the BT.
I'm asking for support from everyone. Keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer, perform an exercisom, or anything else that can help. I do not want to miss this year. See ya all there!
