Default Bravo XZ or Imco SC for 800hp..

The engine for my 28 ft should be fiinished soon. Ateco engines should have it up to around 800 hp, dyno day will soon tell. The question I have is if anyone runs a Imco SC on a Pantera and if so how does it perform? Right now I have an XZ we rebuilt no problems hooked to the old 650 hp ran great. I might lose a little speed from the Imco, but it should hold the hp a little better comments???

Many pics to come soon..

I can't comment on the drive but 800 HP with the new engine the will make that boat scream ....

I have an Imco on my 28. Works good. No problems with 650hp. B-Stubb and MiamiBoys have run a big power single 28 with an XR I think. Stubb has blown some drives.

800HP will be tough to keep either one alive. I would keep a spare and plan on drive rebuilds every season. The Imco uses standard XR gears.

Thanks for the insight. As far as the Imco yes it does have XR gears however it does have beefier shafts as well as a better cooling system, (a built in drive shower) also more bolts holding the upper to the lower. I think I will try the Imco out and keep a XR or an XZ for a spare. Boating season in IL is to short to be waiting on a drive rebuild especially when we start to get busy at the shop..

I run an IMCO with well over 700hp.

No problems. I opened it up at the end of the season and she looked fine. I changed the gear oil every 10-15hrs. Havent done a service yet. Probably have it gone through after the upcoming season.

I run rough water alot too and she holds up nicely.
