Default camming an oval port BBC

I know this has been covered a bunch before but I can't seem to find any good info. I have two 87 7.4 oval ports, I'm getting performer RPM manifolds, 496 exhaust manifolds and risers, with 4" tips (when they show up) I will be running the quadra jets for the economy and saving cost and I would be happy with good torque up to 5000 RPM. I am now ready to order cam kits and like any warm blooded boy I want the most wampum for what I'm working with.

any advice or links to past threads would be great

Bobbo

For a specialist in your cam selection, contact this guy. He has a wealth of knowledge in the marine performance area.

When selecting ANY help in the marine industry, beware of ripoff shops/people. Always ask for references. PM use may be in order here because of the rules/policy of OSO. Do I support this--------NO.

RMBuilder/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics in N.Y. 585-654-8583......he is the cam guru and a gentleman. He will grind you the right cam for your heads, cubic inches, exhaust, etc, etc for your application. He has done this countless time for folks here on OSO over the past several years. He is a great help!

By the way, Quadrajets are not the easiest carb for tuning. I see you are from west Michigan....if you need machine work, then WESCO Racing Engines in Jenison is excellent in machining/building offshore marine hi-perf engines. 98% of the engines he builds are for marine use.
