First off I am installing Autometer gauges, the speedo being GPS based.
Here's what I've got.......
Garmin wiring scematics...
Red: DC out
Blue: NMEA out
Yellow:Alarm Low
Black: Ground
Brown NMEA in
One Speedo harness..........
Red: +12v
White: Receiver antennae
Black: Ground
The other Speedo harness(light and recall).............
Black: Ground
White: Lamp
Red: +12v
Orange, Violet, Gray: monetary switch for recall
First I have a plug on the small speedo harness. Can I buy the female side of this plug or should I just cut it and put new connections on it? Sorry can't attach pics here.
Second....
I assume I connect the NMEA out from GPS to the white wire (antennae/receiver) in the small speedo harness? The other two in the small speedo are obvious.
I have noticed my GPS power is run off one ignition switch post, anyone have suggestions on a better constant power source?? GPS cuts off if it is on and I initiate that ignition switch.
