Default 1990 226ES questions

A friend of mine is looking at a 90 226ES with a 454 330hp that is in pretty good shape. Was looking for info on this boat and there doesnt seem to be many around, atleast for sale, to compare it to. He is looking to get it around $6k with trailer. What kind of top end should it get (completely stock eng) and how well does it handle and ride? Im assuming 3's & 4's might beat it up or not too bad for a 23'? Any comments about this model would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

It should run 60-63 mph it's a 20 degree bottom and it's a little over 8' wide. Not a very good big water boat, but for inland lakes it's not too bad.I had a 88 226 and it served me pretty well for quite a few years.Hey for 6 grand what the hell.

Perfect reply! I had two of them, and my 92' with the carbed 7.4L would read 65-66 mph on the wish-o-meter.

I just sold my kids my 1990 226. It had a carbed 502 and would just crack the 70 mark. It was a good handling boat at 70 with no tabs. A little hard in rough water though. Nice boat and a good price.

Hey for 6 grand what the hell.

Sounds like a lot of boat for the $, if the boat is reasonably straight.

The 226es had a 24* bottom. They ride good for a 22/23' boat especially when they have 280 k-planes.
My old 226es had a HP465 in it & it would run 80.

Jason, I hate to do this but the 226 had a 20 degree deadrise, and if you really measured it close, it was more like 19.5

They were a fast running hull........

The early 240 Sport had a 24* bottom.

No, no, no! The Bandit had a 20* bottom.........I think.
Don't make me go dig through all the old brochures I have.
I'd swear that the 226es measured 23'6" & had a 24* bottom.
I may be wrong, but I'm thinking I'm right.
Give me some proof I'm wrong. It happens daily, just not today. Time is a ticking.

NO NO NO!
The Bandits had a 15* deadrise until '93, then it went to 17*. They are a rough riding SOB. My wife hated the one we had.
XT is correct on the rest.
