Bud Bender passed away
It is with great sorrow and a deep sense of personal loss that I must inform you, the skiff community of the passing of one of the true Legends in Jersey Speed Skiffs.
Carroll George (Bud) Bender passed away last night of natural causes in his Maryland home.
Bud had built over 300 jersey speed skiffs.

Saw the post on the site and it brought a tear to my eye. During building and restoring skiffs this was the one man that would give you all the answers you needed. I never had the pleasure of meeting this great man in person but had many conversations with him.
I hope during the Dora show they are able to produce a tribute run, well deserved.
Bud you will be missed more than you could know.

That's very sad, I remember going to his Highlands shop with my father to see the boats being built. My first solo boat purchase was a red and white Bender, by far the most fun I very had for the amount of money it cost!!!
