i have a shot at buying a compleat 496 HO. just wondering what my mag is worth to sell, and if anyone buys them?

its an 03 compleat with 230 hours on it. very well maintained. fresh water use 99% of the time. flushed after any salt water use.

any info would be great

To swap complete engines for 50 HP is a waste of $$ if thats the only reason you're doing it. You be much better off to have yours tweaked by Raylar.

Real money $2-4k. The only difference is cam and ECU tuning. You're better off calling Raylar and asking if they have old parts they'll sell you.

Just change the cam and computer on the one you have. Save a lot of money.

I just pulled the cam and replaced the computer with a whipple flash puter on my Raylar install. What would you pay me for the Mag HO cam and computer?

They are definately very positive! With way to much prop...a 30 that ain't right I have gained 6MPH.(had a reconditioned 24 that was on the rev limiter....maybe costing me a little) Gonna try a Merc labbed 28 soon...if the guy don't sell it before I can try it. I expect a 12-14MPH gain when dialed in on my 288 sunny! The previous owner had a best on GPS recall of 70. I hit 72 @4800....rev limiter @5450! If I was on a bigger lake I think I couldda maybe squeeked 74.

The motor is very smooth! Idles great and romps well! No regrets at all so far!

i was under the understanding the heads where oval port on the HO making the intake better as well?

will that cam work in a 454? my buddy is rebuilding his 454 and wants the stock 496 cam. i think it wont do to the gen of the motor?

The heads on a 496 are completly different than a normal big block as per intake ports. And yes just a cam and a computer. If you get the cam I think Dustin at whipple can reprogram your mag computer for you.

The heads are the same on 496 mag and 496HO mag. Its just the cam and computer.
The cam won't work in 454. They are totally different engines.
