Default Vinyl Wrapping Top Deck

Looking to do this soon and want to wrap entire boat... does the non-skid need to be smoothed out for the wrap to adhere? There are several snap button holes that I need to fill and curous if this can be done over the non skid or not.

yes it should be smoothed and filled to get the best results. The material is very pliable and shows texture and holes through pretty easy.

How would you recommend filling in the non skid?

Default this

is up to the designer. He should include the color of the skid and install around it. When I went for schooling we did a boat and we quickly learned that a die cut graphic installs more cost effective then a full wrap. Dave is right all of your flaws will show even the smallest scratch. It will look good from 20 ft but not 5 ft. Pull your snaps and reinstall over the wrap.

Hope this helps.

its not that bad to sand off if its the molded in gel coat type. 80 'ed down than follow up with something finer like 220 etc. I would take it to about 800 than buff it just a bit.

I prefer 3M's vinylester premium marine filler. How big are the spots that need filling?

Just low spots from the non skid I intend to sand off.... could I 'glue' in new color of non skid over the factory stuff? Reason I am asking is this stuff is very dull and discolored looks like a grungy white.
