I am shocked they are on this forums, but happy anyone know how to convert a 496 mag to a 496HO? Do I need to install captains call to run a 496HO?

You will need a new cam and a new ecm from merc to do it right. [yes] you should have the captains call it will help. It will give you 1.5 more rpm and 1 1/2 to 2 more MPH ON THE TOP END.

What will a 282 do with the 496 mag and bravo 3 duo prop set up?

My buddy has a Sea Ray 27 Select(all open...not a cuddy) with 496 Mag and Bravo 3. It only runs about 47 MPH. I would imagine a Cobalt will be a bit faster

I had a chance to look up cobalts specks for there top end's speeds for you today.A singel 496 B-3 will run 48-51 [MPH]. a twin 6.2 B-3 will run 59-62 [MPH].

It runs well...kicks my Bro's @ss in the rough(29 Fountain), so I'm happy about that. I can't wait to get it out of storage in May. Adding a few things this year including a sea strainer(blew 2 impellers last year).
